Fraudulent Call and Text Alert

There have been fraudulent text messages and phone calls going out to members and non-members alike.  They appear to come from WEPCO but are actually from fraudsters trying to access your information.

Text Message:  This is a form of fraud called "Smishing" in which a fraudster sends a highly urgent text, such as "your account has been locked" or "your account needs to be verified to stay open," and provides a link to resolve the "problem."  If a person clicks the link, it takes them to a malicious website that may download a virus or ask them to enter their username and password.  Once they have access, the fraudster can takeover the account and/or phone.  Please do not give any information!
